Prior to joining Chartis, Murli was Vice President, Insight and Innovation (I&I) and Head of Customer Experience at Farmers Insurance, a subsidiary of Zurich Financial Services. I&I influenced decision-making across all functions based on data driven insights. In his customer experience role, Murli was responsible for shaping the enterprise vision on where and how much to invest to improve customer experience.

Murli’s other previous experiences include analytical roles in Answer Financial (one of the largest P&C insurance agencies), Progressive, The Monitor Group, and Capital One.

Murli speaks at conferences focused on innovation and analytics driven strategy. He is also actively involved with Los Angeles based Harmony Project, whose mission is to help inner city children achieve purpose through free music instruction.

Murli holds a B.A. in Economics from Bluffton University, an MS in Economics & Statistics from Auburn University, and an MBA from The University of Chicago.

Ms. Chmieleski received her Bachelor of Science degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Hartford and she earned her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she was editor-in-chief of the Connecticut Insurance Law Journal. She holds Connecticut Law and Nursing Licenses and is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. She is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Society for Risk Management and was a member of the Board of Directors. She is a faculty member at PLUS University and a current member of the PLUS Board.

Craig Fundum is President of the Commercial Markets & Customer Industry Segments business unit for Zurich's operations in the United States and has oversight of the executive team of Zurich's Canadian business.

Craig's insurance career began in 1981 as an underwriter with the Royal Insurance Group. He joined the Zurich organization in 1990 and has held various leadership positions, including Assistant Vice President of Commercial Group Programs, Vice President of Sales and Marketing and Regional Marketing Vice President of Small Construction.

He was appointed President of the Small Business Solutions SBU in 1997 and served as Chief Operating Officer of a new Zurich internet exchange project in 1999. He was CEO of Strategic Partnerships before being named Chief Marketing Officer in 2003. He was named President of Programs Business in 2005 and President of Programs & Direct Markets in February 2008.

Craig has a bachelor's degree in marketing management from the University of Nebraska-Kearney. He has also participated in several executive management programs, including Darden School, College of Insurance, Kellogg School and Wharton School.

Robert P. Hartwig is President of the Insurance Information Institute. Since joining the I.I.I. in 1998 as an economist and becoming chief economist in 1999, Dr. Hartwig has focused his work on improving understanding of key insurance issues across all industry stakeholders including media, consumers, insurers, producers, regulators, legislators and investors.

Presently, the I.I.I. provides assistance on thousands of stories annually and covers all aspects of print, television, radio and new media while also responding to thousands of requests from I.I.I. member companies and other constituencies. The institute is generally recognized to be the most credible and frequently used single source of information and referral for the widely diverse insurance industry. Its Board represents companies from all areas of the industry, including life insurers. In addition, some 20 other insurance organizations contract with I.I.I. for media services.

The I.I.I. is involved in products and services as varied as original research and publications with the National Bureau of Economic Research and The Wharton School, through widely used consumer publications and Fact Books, to maintaining the National Insurance Consumer Helpline on behalf of the entire U.S. property/casualty industry. Each year the institute’s staff makes more than 100 presentations worldwide on behalf of member organizations.

Dr. Hartwig previously served as director of economic research and senior economist with the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) in Boca Raton, Florida, where he performed rate of return and cost of capital modeling and testified at workers’ compensation rate hearings in many states. He has also worked as senior economist for the Swiss Reinsurance Group in New York and as senior statistician for the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission in Washington, D.C. He is a member of the American Economic Association, the American Risk and Insurance Association, the National Association of Business Economics and the CPCU Society and from May 2005 to May 2008 served on the board of directors of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers Association of New York. In 2005 and 2006, Dr. Hartwig served on the state of Florida’s Task Force for Long-Term Homeowners Insurance Solutions.

Dr. Hartwig received his Ph.D. and Master of Science degrees in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics cum laude from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He has served as an instructor at the University of Illinois and at Florida Atlantic University. Dr. Hartwig also holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) credential.

Dr. Hartwig has authored and co-authored papers that have appeared in numerous publications, including the Journal of Health Economics, the Proceedings of the Casualty Actuarial Society, the John Liner Review (where he also serves on the editorial board), Dossiers et Etudes (Geneva Association), the Journal of Workers’ Compensation, Global Reinsurance, Risk & Insurance, Insurance Day, Compensation and Benefits Review. He is also a regular contributor to National Underwriter and many other industry trade publications.

Dr. Hartwig makes frequent presentations to industry associations, company management, industry executives, analysts and clients and speaks internationally on a wide range of insurance issues. He has testified before numerous state and federal regulatory and legislative bodies, including the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance and Government Sponsored Enterprises and the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.

Dr. Hartwig serves as a media spokesperson for the property/casualty insurance industry, and is quoted frequently in leading publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Financial Times, BusinessWeek, Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, CFO, Fortune, Forbes, The Economist and many others throughout the world. Dr. Hartwig also appears regularly on television, including programs on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, CNBC, Fox, PBS and the BBC.

David assumed the leadership of Vela in 2009 with thirty years’ experience in the property-casualty insurance industry. Prior to joining the W. R. Berkley organization, David spent ten years with member companies of American International Group in Boston and New York. His executive management roles with the AIG Companies included serving as Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of Risk Specialists Companies, Inc., Senior Vice President & Program Division Executive of Lexington Insurance Company, and Vice President & Profit Center Manager of New Hampshire Insurance Company. Prior to AIG, David spent eight years with Atlantic Mutual Insurance Company at its home office in Madison, New Jersey, where he served as Assistant Vice President. David started his insurance career in 1980 with AIG.

He is a 1981 graduate of Connecticut College, New London, Connecticut. He and his wife currently live in Chicago, Illinois.

From 1987 until early 2000, Mr. Menzies was a senior executive with The Thomson Corporation, where he held a number of general management positions, most notably as the President and Chief Executive of Thomson's tax and regulatory division (RIA Group). From February 2000 until September 2000, he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of iClick, an Internet-based software and services company in the human resources sector. Mr. Menzies is a chartered accountant in the U.K., and earned his undergraduate degree (B.Acc) from Glasgow University, Scotland.

Greg Toczydlowski is President of Personal Insurance for Travelers. He was promoted to this position in July 2009, after serving as Chief Operating Officer since 2007.

Previously, Mr. Toczydlowski was Senior Vice President of Product Management of Personal Insurance and, prior to that, was Chief Financial Officer for the independent agency distribution channel within Personal Insurance, where he valuated agencies, created perpetuation strategies, developed field-based performance metrics and directed a staff of finance officers throughout the country.

Since joining Travelers in 1990, Mr. Toczydlowski has had diverse management assignments, including leading operations within the big three (Captive, Direct and Independent) distribution outlets. In addition to a field assignment, he has worked in the Executive Division leading mergers and acquisition analysis, assessing markets and assisting the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer.

Other assignments have included systems, finance, underwriting, product, marketing and business development. In addition to Mr. Toczydlowski’s holistic view of the industry, he enjoys the opportunity to manage and teach evidence based management, leadership development and strategic planning.

Mr. Toczydlowski has a bachelor’s degree from Springfield College and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Hartford. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut and serves on the Board of Trustees for Springfield College.

Mr. Toczydlowski and his wife, Mary-Jo, have twin sons and reside in Connecticut.

In addition to ensuring regulatory compliance in the 50 states and other U.S. jurisdictions Lloyd’s operates in, his colleagues are actively engaged in educational and marketing outreach to retail, wholesale and reinsurance intermediaries, risk management programs at colleges and universities and many other stakeholders in the Lloyd’s market.

Hank joined Lloyd"s in 2009. He has 30 years of experience in the insurance industry and has held a range of underwriting, client management and leadership positions in the United States and Europe at Chubb, Barney & Barney, Johnson & Higgins, Marsh and HRH.

Hank received his BA from the University of California, Berkeley and has completed an executive leadership program at The Wharton School. He’s a member of the Board of Overseers at St. John’s University’s School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science and is on the boards of BritishAmerican Business and the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation, New York/Tri-State Division.

In addition, Kevin serves as a director of the Surplus Lines Association of Missouri and education coordinator for the western half of Missouri. He also has served on the Insurance Testing Committee for Surplus Lines in the state of Missouri. Kevin currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Heartland SPCA and is an ardent animal rights advocate.

Ross began his career at the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, where he spent 12 years, and held several positions including Senior Vice President of Chubb Insurance Company of Europe. Peter J. Eastwood is President and Chief Executive Officer of Chartis U.S. and President and Chief Executive Officer of Lexington Insurance Company, a Chartis company.

Mr. Eastwood was named head of Chartis’ U.S. and Canadian businesses in March of 2012 in addition to his responsibilities as President and CEO of Lexington, Chartis’ largest U.S. subsidiary. Prior to becoming President and CEO of Lexington, Mr. Eastwood was Executive Vice President of Lexington and Senior Executive of Lexington’s Healthcare Division. Mr. Eastwood was also the President of Risk Specialists Companies, Inc., the largest excess and surplus lines broker of specialty insurance products in the United States and a member company of Chartis. Additionally, Mr. Eastwood’s prior responsibilities at Lexington included oversight for product development, marketing, and the group’s industry focused practices.

Before joining Lexington, Mr. Eastwood was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Chartis Risk Finance, a group specializing in alternative risk transfer products. Mr. Eastwood began his career in the insurance industry in 1991 as a Professional Associate with Chartis member company National Union, where he held a number of key underwriting and management positions.

Mr. Eastwood is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University where he earned a BA in Economics. He also holds an MBA from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business.

Richard (Rick) A Gulliver, President of HUB International oversees the company’s merger and acquisitions in addition to serving on the Executive Management Team.

Rick began his career in January 1977 by opening a small, one-man shop in Leamington, Ontario which continues today as a HUB International operation. He was instrumental in creating Insurance Network Solutions in 1995 where he served as President. He was also President of HUB Group Ontario Ltd and its subsidiary Gulliver Insurance Brokers. He played a pivotal role in the formation of HUB International and has been actively involved in its development and growth.

Rick has more than 25 years of leadership and experience in acquiring, building and operating insurance brokerage firms. Over the past 8 years he has led more than 100 acquisitions, representing over $400 million in revenue.

His philanthropic endeavors include the creation of Hub Rides, a group of executives who band together for an annual Harley Davidson trip and who are required to contribute to charities of their choice. As a result of this partnership, the group has raised more than $100,000 for these causes.

Rick attended University of Western Ontario, has been elected an Associate of the Insurance Institute of Canada, and achieved his Charter Insurance Broker designation.

Glenn Hargrove is President and Co-Founder of MSW, a commercial insurance intermediary providing Brokerage, MGA and Specialty Program insurance solutions. MSW was formed in 2010 by Glenn and MarketScout, Inc., one of commercial insurances’ leading ecommerce and specialty program operations. During his 24 years in the insurance industry Hargrove has been a leading producer, a successful manager, an innovative CEO and an industry leader.

Prior to forming MSW he spent 2 years as an independent consultant to various insurance and financial services companies. He previously served as President and CEO of Crump Insurance services which is one of the nation’s largest insurance wholesalers. In addition to the CEO position he served in other management positions with Crump since 1997. Previous to his joining Crump he spent 10 years working with 2 other independent insurance wholesalers in top level production and management positions. Before beginning his insurance career Glenn was an officer with an energy services firm involved in offshore drilling, helicopter chartering and industrial catering.

Glenn has been active in industry training and education, both individually and in conjunction with various industry associations. He was a Business Management major at Southwest Texas State University and has hundreds of hours of continuing education in insurance and business related courses.

He is a member of the Board of Directors for Hiscox Insurance Company, Inc. and Hiscox USA. Glenn is a member of the Business Architects Association and holds other Board and Advisory Board positions. He is a frequent presenter to insurance and business management audiences, as well as a contributor to numerous trade journal articles.

Glenn was born and raised in Houston, TX and now calls Dallas home.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University in accounting, finance and insurance and earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Notre Dame Law School. Upon graduation he was admitted to the Michigan Bar Association and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and the United States Tax Court. Continuing his law studies in England, Mr. Kaufman concentrated on corporate and comparative international law. While in London, Mr. Kaufman worked with Underwriters at Lloyds which to this day he represents through relationships with Burns & Wilcox. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Oakland County Bar Association and the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel and a number of other legal associations.

Mr. Kaufman is a Michigan Super Lawyer nominated in 2008, 2009 and 2010. He has received numerous awards for his legal, insurance and philanthropic activities, including Michigan State University, University of Michigan, Walsh College, Cranbrook Kingswood Schools, Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit, and Detroit Institute of Arts.

He is a dynamic writer and lecturer for professional organizations, including the American Bar Association and the insurance industry, as an expert in corporate and insurance law as well as acquisitions and mergers of insurance-related companies.
