Richard J. Quagliaroli
Richard J. Quagliaroli, President and Chief
Executive Officer of Strongwood Insurance Holdings Corporation, is a senior
executive with extensive experience in commercial and personal lines carrier
management with full P&L responsibility. He brings strong field and home office
experience creating profitable business development strategies with an
extensive knowledge of traditional and new distribution channels and the use of
technology to maximize the leverage of each.
Strongwood Holdings Insurance Corporation, a holding company, today operates in
all the western states with California remaining the dominate source of
revenue. The company combines control of a distribution, Networked Insurance
Agents and Northeast Agencies, with control of one of the distributor's
preferred carriers, Sequoia. The carrier does not grant underwriting authority
to agents and is licensed in 37 states.
As President of Hartford Commercial Insurance Company, Hartford, Connecticut
through 2001, Richard had full P&L responsibility for a $4.2 billion dollar
revenue business including 3500 employees in the U.S. and Canada. Hartford
Financial Services is a $20 billion multi-line international insurance carrier
insuring business and personal exposures for commercial, personal, life and
asset accumulation products.
His corporate responsibilities included Board presentations regarding financial
performance of the company and its strategic positioning, as well as investor
relations with institutional investors and rating agencies.
From 1994 through 1998, he served as the Executive Vice President, Field
Operations ¬Hartford Connecticut; and Senior Vice President, Southern Division
-Hartford, Connecticut; and led the Commercial Lines field organization
business development activities of 42 offices, 2500 employees, and $3.2 billion
in written premium. Responsibilities have included meeting top and bottom line
performance consistent with business segment strategies as well as reigniting
relationships with agency distribution.
From 1986 -1994, Richard served as the Regional Vice President -Hartford
Insurance, in Chicago, and was responsible for a three state, four-office
territory. The territory grew from the eighth to the largest territory over a
four-year period achieving profitability targets in all but one of eight years
and reaching $250 million in written premium. In total, he spent 32 years with
Hartford Insurance in various offices around the US.
He has a BA in International Relations from the University of Hartford with
graduate studies in finance. He has received Executive Training at Northwestern
University, Boston University, University of Michigan, and Babson College.
He has been the Vice Chairman Board Member and Chair of Expansion Committee for
Prevent Blindness America and Board Member and member of the Executive
Committee for WISe, a global insurance industry technology standards
organization. He served also a Board Member of the R.C. Knox Foundation.
