eBusiness & Technology is the unit within Property & Casualty charged with delivering superior, cost-effective technology services that enable our business customers to thrive and win in the highly competitive property & casualty marketplace. It does this by working closely with business customers to understand their needs and facilitate product development, excellent customer services and ease of working with business partners.

The Hartford’s Property & Casualty organization provides personal auto and homeowners insurance and flood insurance through agents and directly to members of the AARP. It also provides a full line of business insurance through agents and brokers, including small business insurance, middle market insurance, marine coverages, management liability insurance (directors & officers (D&O), professional liability (E&O), employment practices liability (EPL)), specialty insurance, surety and construction bonds, and business flood insurance.

John Chu is responsible for strategy and operations of property & casualty technology, including electronic interface with independent agents and brokers. He joined the Hartford in 1999 as vice president of strategic business development and moved to chief financial officer for The Hartford’s Personal Lines division, prior to assuming his present position in 2004. He has worked at Tillinghast-Towers Perrin and PepsiCo Foods International, and holds a Master of Business Administration, Finance and International Business from the Stern School of Business at New York University.
