Jay Chase
Jay Chase has over 25 years experience in the property & casualty insurance underwriting industry. He served as Chief Underwriting officer of Industrial Indemnity Company, a San Francisco based workers’ compensation specialty company; Executive Vice President of TIG/Transamerica Insurance Group; Executive Vice President of Kemper Employers Group; Vice President of Argonaut Insurance Company; and President of Tamarack Consulting Partners, a capital management and insurance service consulting company.
Mr. Chase joined Transamerica Insurance Group in 1989 as Senior Vice President where he was a key leader in TIG Holding’s successful IPO, remaining there until TIG’s sale to Fairfax Financial. TIG was an “A” rated $2+ billion property & casualty insurance company. Jay held various leadership positions with TIG including Senior Vice President, U.S. Field Operations, where he led the company’s successful restructure efforts, ultimately becoming Executive Vice President and actively involved in all aspects of the company’s business from small employer programs to complex offshore reinsurance arrangements. He served as Chairman of Indemni-Med Management LLC, a managed care company, President of TIG Bermuda, an offshore reinsurance company, and Director of TIG Reinsurance Company now Oddessy Re.
Upon the sale of TIG in 1999, Jay joined Kemper Employers Group as Executive Vice President and was a key leader in the acquisition of Superior National Insurance Groups workers’ compensation renewal rights and run-off contract. Mr. Chase managed the newly acquired business until its sale to Argonaut Insurance Company where he remained until June 2003 forming Tamarack Consulting Partners. Mr. Chase served as Director of Agents Resources Inc. (ARI) of the Western Insurance Agents Association and had clients ranging from large publicly held insurance companies to small distribution channels. Mr. Chase has written extensively on the US Workers Compensation market and provided expert witness testimony on complex global reinsurance disputes. Mr. Chase performed graduate studies at Pepperdine University (MBA) and Undergraduate studies at Boise State University, (Economics).
