Ian
Packer Ian has over 19 years of experience, both as an investor and operating executive in the financial services industry. Ian co-founded private investment funds, Bexar Capital in 2003, and Tobat Capital in 1999. Both Bexar and Tobat focus exclusively on the financial services industry with a heavy emphasis on insurance. Ian has played key roles in the financing, strategy and ongoing development of the Tobat Portfolio companies. He continues to have board involvement and acts in an advisory capacity to the portfolio companies that remain in the Tobat portfolio. Prior to co-founding Tobat, Ian was Chief Financial Officer of E.W. Blanch Holdings, where he was responsible for all of the company’s staff functions and global financial operations including oversight of the company’s acquisitions, investments and capital expenditures. Ian oversaw the E.W. Blanch’s expansion into foreign markets, which included three major acquisitions in London as well as a number of smaller add-on acquisitions in South America, and Asia. In addition, he was responsible for E.W. Blanch’s direct corporate investments in insurance companies, distribution, and technology. During his tenure, E.W. Blanch’s revenues more than doubled, market capitalization more than tripled and the company completed several significant acquisitions and divestitures. Ian was responsible for all investor and analyst interaction and guided the Company’s outside advisors in major financing, acquisition and investment transactions. Earlier in his career, Ian held leadership positions in both operating and investment companies in the insurance, technology, and merchant banking industries. He successfully led the 1995 initial public offering of technology start-up, MarketLink, Inc. where he was President & CEO for almost four years. From 1989 to 1993, Ian was a Partner of Great Northern Capital, a private merchant bank focused on leveraged equity investment in middle market companies. Ian currently serves as a Director of Reval Corporation, Injury Sciences, LLC, and NovaPro Risk Solutions. Ian received his Master of Business Administration with honors from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College in 1988 and his AB in Economics from Franklin & Marshall College in 1986. Ian resides in Dallas, TX with his wife Melayne, son Cameron and daughter Mary. |
